British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
