Missile Defenses Activated In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their territorial skies. In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East. IRGC Statement The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday. Wider Impacts In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran. The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles". "Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added. The statement noted wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian. The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
