Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I've received significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a spell of this nature with performances this poor.”

He stated, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, prove again the values of this club and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
