First-choice Lineup

The goalkeeper Had little to do to perform during the opening 45 until called into action from an opponent's curled attempt. His sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker demonstrated excellent anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged against Albania’s primary attacker in their forward. Started more centrally early on but moved to the flank once Saka came on. 7/10

The defender Advanced up the pitch when in possession, as he has done previously. On occasion lacked urgency in possession and the experiment discontinued by the interval. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat at set pieces, per usual, but may be another option for Stones at the back instead of his partner. A careless distribution later in the match almost led to an opener from Albania. 6

The young full-back One more confident performance from the rising star after his debut against another side. A teammate was unable to take the most of a gorgeous touch behind the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure at this stage. 7/10

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning in an England shirt. Somewhat careless on the ball though his dangerous set-pieces posed a danger. A useful tempo-setter for the coach to have versus defensive opponents. Shown a yellow after a reckless challenge. 6

The midfielder Set-pieces on corner kicks and free-kicks were dangerous. Had license to drift in left midfield but was offside when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Given a well-earned break around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Functioned in a high position on the right and also did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed flashes of quality but dragged an attempt high. Substituted in the closing stages for a teammate, his rival, following a yellow card. 7

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's top opening in the opening period, his shot smartly stopped from Thomas Strakosha. With Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to stretch the play out wide although his balls from wide areas varied in quality. Replaced for the final quarter-hour. Six

The captain The decisive figure netting two more goals at international level. The opener a trademark opportunist's goal and the second a superb finish with his head after peeling away from his marker. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and the side stand a real opportunity in future competitions with him up top. Eight

The attacker Had difficulty to make an impact from the left. Was presented with a presentable chance after being played in from a teammate but Strakosha kept it out. Rashford produced a bigger influence after coming on. 5
