Legendary skier Lindsey Vonn has declared she will be "in a good place" for the Milan-Cortina Olympics, following earning a top-three finish for the fourth time in five World Cup events. The veteran athlete, who recently made history by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish. Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere Returning to the French Alps resort for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of 1:20.60. She was just over a third of a second behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing the runner-up spot. "I was slightly lacking enough direction on the initial jump," Vonn said. "After that, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my skiing today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious." This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also taken third in the downhill on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Retirement Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 as a result of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 after a partial knee replacement. With less than two months remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are highly promising. She boasts an Olympic gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "In Cortina, I will be fully ready," the athlete confirmed. Chasing More Titles In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four overall crystal globes she has won over a career spanning two decades. She currently holds a 69-point lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings. This current World Cup campaign includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Norway on March 21st, 2026.
