The President Welcomes Relatives of Shot National Guard Personnel to White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president said he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members came together over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that educators desired. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, considerate and always ready to help others.”

Funeral arrangements for Beckstrom are still being arranged.

Legal Steps and Policy Changes

Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident prompted the government to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Andrew Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told the program that she aimed to meet with the family.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” he addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
