The Reform UK leader Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this negative culture.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

However, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, years to turn this around.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

During the American gathering, Farage also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I will follow through.”

The college, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
